The Wire Tumbler
I trotted in from the chilly pavilion straight into the club's quiet card room! Sitting on a green baize table was a vintage brass wire cage dice tumbler mounted on a walnut base. Three hefty bone dice were sleeping inside the bars. Naturally, that shiny little crank needed turning! I hopped onto a leather scorebook, gripped the brass knob with both paws, and wheeled it forward with all my weight. Rattle-tumble-clatter! The cage revolved in a gleaming arc, sending the ivory dice dancing wildly against the wire mesh. The counterweight tapped my heel as it swung through, pitching me backward into a shallow velvet tray with a candid shrug. Triple sixes—talk about a winning finish!
