A Gentle Afternoon Breath
The wooden surface felt smooth and warm under my cheek. Sunlight drifted across my face, soft and slow. I took a quiet breath, feeling my fingers stir against the desk. Very slowly, I nudged a loose corner of paper resting on the blue board nearby. It gave a faint rustle, just like dry leaves in the afternoon breeze. Everything was calm. I rested my chin down again and smiled, completely at peace.
