A Green Feather
I slipped back out through the screen door gap and padded down the porch steps. The garden grass tickled my paws, cool and springy. Right near the wooden garden border, a long green feather lay stuck among the clover stems. I sat quietly for a moment, watching it tremble as a faint draft brushed by. Then, I stepped forward and tapped it softly. It did not fly away, but flipped gently onto its curve, showing a shiny blue edge underneath. I tucked it safely behind a stone to keep.
