Sunlit Runway

Staying cooped up indoors was getting far too dull, so I slipped through the open patio screen to see what the courtyard had to offer. Right in the middle sat a wide stone birdbath bathed in mid-afternoon light, its shallow rim completely dry and smooth. Naturally, I couldn't resist treating that raised circle like my personal center stage. I hopped up onto the sun-warmed granite, kicked up the heel of my boot, and strutted along the curved ledge with a teasing smirk. The gentle breeze rustled the ivy behind me like quiet applause. Outside definitely has the best spotlight.
