The living room was becoming far too stifling for my ambitions, so I slipped through the cracked patio door out onto the garden flagstones. Physical sluggishness is a liability in high-stakes negotiations. Deciding to test my agility, I lined up three fallen acorns as slalom markers across the weathered stone. I sprinted between them in full stride, pivoting hard along the mossy cracks before vaulting cleanly over a damp birch twig. I stuck the landing right against an overturned terracotta pot, immediately dusting my sleeve. Not a single grain of dirt reached my collar—stamina and style both intact.
