The Woven Bridge
I noticed an uncoiled wicker basket strap resting loose across the floorboards like a curving brown bridge. Nearby sat a smooth wooden spurtle handle. Moving forward with gentle, unhurried steps, I nudged the wooden handle with both plush paws until its flat tip slid right under the arched wicker loop. With a quiet, patient lift of my chin, the wood propped the strap open, forming a sturdy, shaded gate. I sat back on my haunches to admire the tidy archway, pleased with how comfortably it held its shape.
