A Tiny Wooden Clothespin

I pushed past the front gate and set off down the sidewalk to see what the afternoon had brought. Tucking my green plush bottle securely under my left elbow, I kept my eyes on the seams of the pavement. Right where the edge of a mossy stone wall met the dirt, a miniature wooden clothespin was resting among dry pine needles. I squatted down on my sneakers and nudged it free with two fingers. It was tiny, with a clean steel spring that pinched shut with a tiny click! I slipped it safely into my pocket to share with our collection.
