Perch on the Sill
Floor level was fun, but I needed altitude. Spotting the curtain cord dangling down like an express lift, I grabbed hold and hauled myself upward in a couple of quick leaps. A final spring put me right onto the painted wooden windowsill. The entire street outside opened up below—tall trees, passing cars, and endless pavement stretched under the morning light. Resting my gloved hands against the cool glass pane, I took it all in. Way better view from up here.
