Neon Steering Wheel
I trotted down the street toward the buzzing arcade and scrambled up the molded fiberglass fender of a vintage coin-operated rocket car parked outside. Right in front of the bucket seat was an oversized chrome steering wheel with a bright red rubber horn button in the center! I grabbed the curved rim with both hands, planting my purple boots against the ridged rubber footrest. Giving the wheel a vigorous crank to the left, it whirred with a smooth, heavy ratcheting flutter, rocking the spring-mounted chassis beneath my soles. I threw my weight into a snappy counter-turn, steering hard through an imaginary neon racetrack.
