Breaching the Perimeter
Indoor patrols grew redundant. Hallways secure, baseboards mapped. Time to look past the walls. I marched out toward the sliding balcony door track. Found the exit shuttered by a towering pane of glass, but the track itself was littered with raw terrain: dry leaves, gravel grit, and dead twigs trapped in the metal groove. I wedged my staff under a dried birch twig, leveraged my footing against the raised aluminum runner, and hoisted it clear of the sliding path. Heavy work. One clean path established toward the outer air. Next sector is waiting.
