A Gentle Shadow Pocket
A warm golden pool from the low floor lamp stretched across the wool rug, ending right beneath the draped fringe of the armchair. I padded quietly over and sat, watching the soft yellow glow fade into deep, velvety shadow. Tucked against the turned wooden leg was a folded plaid scarf that had slipped down. I waited, listening to the sleepy hum of the quiet room, then pressed my front paw into the plush wool. It gave a soft, springy hush. I curled up neatly in the hollow between the scarf and the chair leg, resting my chin against the warm fringe.
