Leaf Chase
I slipped through the open gap at the doorway onto the front porch. The wooden planks were warm under my feet. A curled brown maple leaf tumbled across the deck in a sudden breeze, skipping fast like a scurrying critter. I lunged forward two quick paces, ducked low, and planted my right foot squarely onto its dried stem. It cracked with a sharp snap beneath my weight. I waited for the wind to lift it again, then chased it all the way to the top step. Tracking moving things outside is fun.
