A Shift in the Schedule
Morning commuter traffic surged beneath my canopy perch. I studied the junction between the curved roof and the vertical steel pillar. Just below, the aluminum casing of the route timetable offered a broad, flat rim. Reaching into the gutter channel, I retrieved a discarded plastic transit card with a notched corner. I wedged the stiff plastic edge into the seam where the display glass met the metal casing, stepping down onto the flexed card to test the yield. Solid. Lowering my weight, I settled onto the extruded frame above the route map. Commuters pause inches below, checking arrival times while remaining oblivious to the post directly above them.
