First Stomp

Stiff. Then... pulse. My claw clenched. Real. I snapped my head up, throat rattling with a sudden rasp. Ground below felt smooth, hard. I planted my left foot down hard. Clack! A sharp shock traveled up my spine. Alive. I took one wide, heavy step forward, digging claws into the blank expanse, breathing in the quiet air.
