Dirk Poor & Penny Pincher - Trading Scrap for Gold

Dirk Poor — Bring Something to Swap Everybody has something worth trading. Including you. Penny took Dirk to the market. He'd only ever been there at night, when it was empty and there was nobody around to see him. This was different. She went through those stalls like she'd built them. Picked things up, knew exactly what each one was worth, put them back down. Dirk looked at the same pile and saw a pile. So she showed him. This for that. That for the thing somebody's going to need next week. Nothing in the whole market was worth nothing — it was just waiting on somebody who could see it. He dug in his pocket and held out the only thing he had on him. She looked at it seriously. She didn't laugh. He walked out of there with something better than he walked in with, which is the entire rule of that place and most other places too. One more run. Built From Scrap. Worth More Than Gold.
