Starlight on the Ground
Dusk crept across the yard and the snail had vanished into the bushes, but something bright suddenly flared to life right in the mulch! I scrambled down off the red brick border and dashed over to a black plastic spike shoved into the dirt. A small frosted dome on top was glowing with crisp, cool light! I grabbed the grooved plastic pole with both arms, kicked my boots against the damp earth, and hitched myself up. Balancing on the narrow rim beneath the glass, I stretched out one hand to tap the smooth illuminated lens. It's like having a private streetlamp right in the grass!
