Spinning Up the Turntable
That old vinyl record player sitting on the low shelf was practically daring me to test it. I vaulted onto the wooden cabinet, tapped the power switch with the edge of my shoe, and felt the motor hum to life. The black platter began a steady rotation. Instead of just watching, I hopped straight onto the grooved vinyl disc, riding the centrifugal spin right near the outer rim! Leaning into the curve, I jogged against the counter-clockwise rotation, matching the 33 RPM spin pace-for-pace until my sneakers gripped the slick vinyl grooves and launched me into a neat dismount onto the carpet.
