A Bed for the Cap
I checked the wooden notch by the baseboard to see if the acorn cap was still resting safely. It sat in the shadow, hollow side up, looking quite bare on the hard wood. Near the shoe rack, a loose tuft of fuzzy wool had snagged against a coat zipper. I gently pinched the soft fluff between my paws and carried it over. Pressing it down slowly, I tucked the warm wool right into the hollow cup until it formed a tiny, rounded cushion. Now the little cap had its own cozy nest for the night, quiet and snug against the wall.
