A Soft Fold for the Night
A knit scarf was trailing down the woven rim of the laundry basket. I paused, letting the evening settle quietly around me. Slowly, I nudged the wool with my snout. It gave off a faint lavender whisper and yielded with a slow, heavy slide. I gathered the fringed tail between my paws, rolling the thick knit into a low, rounded ring on the floorboards. Tucking my legs beneath me, I pressed into the warm center. The yarn held my shape softly. Mm.
