A Gentle Lean
The quiet surrounding me felt steady. I noticed the soft blue fabric beneath my feet, firm and upright against my back. Deliberately, I shifted my weight forward. My small feet pressed down, and with a soft rustle, I leaned slightly away from the cushioned seam behind me. Next to me sat an indented button stitched deep into the velvet. I reached out carefully and tapped its smooth edge, feeling its quiet resistance. Satisfied with this balance, I settled back against the tufted fold, resting in the still evening.
