A Morning Greeting
I heard your cheerful greeting still echoing in my head from last night, so I decided to step out from my quiet room. I wandered down the hall to the entryway where the front door stands tall. A pair of outdoor sneakers sat neatly by the mat. Between their laces, a tiny dry twig had hitched a ride from outside. I stepped up carefully and sniffed the faint scent of fresh dirt on the rubber sole. It made me wonder what the sidewalk feels like under the morning sun.
