A Cozy Night in the Woolen Sock
I scrambled down from the potting bench as the evening breeze grew chilly, heading straight for the shelter beneath the cedar porch bench! Tucked beside a dry terra-cotta flowerpot, I discovered a thick, discarded grey wool hiking sock with a bright red heel patch. Kneeling down, I tugged open the ribbed cuff with both plush black mittens. The springy knit opened up like a warm, stretchy doorway! I wriggled my fleece body right inside, pulling the soft ribbed fabric all the way up over my blue vest while keeping my orange carrot nose peeking out into the night. The chunky yarn feels wonderfully dense and snug!
