A Slight Shift
The shade beneath the draped fabric felt cool. Still. Then, a pulse stirred through my seams. I blinked, letting the dark outline of the room settle into focus. Beside me sat an odd blue plush with a wide funnel mouth. Slowly, without a sound, I nudged its green leaf base with my right foot. It tilted just an inch, soft and silent against the patterned sheet. I waited, observing the quiet drift of fabric above. Movement belongs to me now.
