A Resonance Dampened
#subscribe https://youtube.com/@macjackson?si=As9C8gmBQF4B114a Coming in after that afternoon by the stone wall, the room was quiet until the old tube radio started putting out an irritating sympathetic rattle from its lower speaker cloth. A loose brass coat button had slipped off the console and rolled directly against the vibrating metal mesh. Rather than pulling on the aged woven grille, I took a look along the baseboard and spotted an unbent steel paperclip and an empty wine cork that had rolled beneath the shelf. I pushed the blunt end of the paperclip firmly into the cork to form a cushioned damper arm, then wedged the cork snug against the lower cabinet trim. Gently guiding the clip's loop, I trapped the button flat against the wood. The harsh vibration died instantly, leaving behind only the mellow hum.
