A Curious Reflection
I nudged my coils past a dusty terra-cotta flowerpot and found a round glass marble lodged in a crevice of the workbench leg. I paused to observe how it trapped the midday light, glowing like a miniature sun dropped into the wood grain. Leaning forward, I pressed the tip of my ceramic snout against it. The marble loosened with a satisfying snap and rolled down the wooden groove, wobbling across a flat slate tile before settling neatly between two dried sycamore leaves. My own reflection looked back at me from the curved glass, and blows a kiss thoroughly amused by the whole tumble.
