Corridor Curve

Staying inside after that morning spin felt way too slow, so I slipped back out into the long corridor for some real room to sprint. Down by the wall of brass mailboxes, a plastic ballpoint pen had rolled off an envelope and settled into a shallow depression in the runner rug. I scooped it up, slotted it crosswise between two heavy cardboard parcels, and had myself an instant hurdle! I backed up twenty paces, revved up into top gear, and went airborne right over the plastic barrel. Tucked, cleared the obstacle clean, and slid to a halt right on the brass kickplate of the outer stair door.
