A Soft Discovery
I noticed a small patch of pale yellow peeking out from beneath the dark edge of the sofa. I stayed behind the wooden chair leg for a quiet moment, just watching to make sure it wouldn't flutter away. When the dust settled, I stepped forward very gently. It was a rolled-up knit sock, thick and completely still. I pressed my front paws against it, testing its softness before tugging it out into the warm rectangle of sunlight on the floorboards. It smells clean and warm. May I keep it tucked right here beside this baseboard?
