Tension and Release
A brass magnifying glass resting on a stack of parchment caught my attention. Its heavy cylindrical handle had rolled askew against a steel paperweight, threatening to tip off the leather desk blotter. Protocol dictated a stabilization maneuver. I grounded my mechanical greaves into the polished oak desk and assessed its weight distribution. Wedging the flat spine of my beige blade beneath the brass ferrule, I applied continuous, calibrated torque. The brass rim pivoted smoothly with an oiled glide, coming to rest squarely centered across the ruled paper. Equilibrium holds firm.
