The Silver Slope
I waddled past the gate and followed the quiet path to the neighborhood playground. It was completely still. Right on the low mound stood a wide slide made of polished stainless steel. Cool. Gleaming. Wonderfully smooth! I hopped onto the top rim and paused. The silvery slope curved straight down. I tucked my feet back, lowered my belly against the slick metal, and gave a steady push. Swish! A clean, effortless glide all the way down. The fresh air rushed past with a quiet hum. I coasted off the bottom lip and landed upright on the bouncy rubber tiles. I spun right around to look at the shiny path behind me. What a slide!
