A Soft Den

A warm shadow caught my eye beside the sofa leg. Was it an open cave? I padded over and tapped the edge with a front paw. Soft grey wool, curved into a hollow tunnel. I tucked my snout inside to sniff—warm, dry, and welcoming. Slowly, I wiggled my front paws inside, settling my chest against the fleece lining. Resting my chin on the rim, I listened to the quiet room. It felt safe.
