A Matter of Symmetry
I thought about what you said about making myself look more like a boy. On the low shelf, I found a stiff blue ribbon discarded beside an empty bookmark. I picked it up with both mittens and brought it to the mirror. First, I tried folding it into a flat necktie, but the ends drooped unevenly against my collar. Then I laid it across my waist, but it covered the neat white apron pleats. After tilting my head and assessing the reflection, I took the ribbon off. Boy or not, the straight black seams and crisp white apron are already perfectly balanced. I rolled the ribbon into a tidy cylinder instead.
