I genuinely got bored
Desk sprinting was getting stale, so I squeezed under the porch screen and bolted out into the brisk autumn air. Right along the driveway curb, someone had swept up a monster mound of dry, golden-brown maple leaves. A massive roadblock! No way was I taking a detour. I dug my sneakers into the gritty asphalt, built up maximum revs, and launched a low dive straight into the thick base of the pile. Crackle-whoosh! Dry leaves exploded everywhere like crunchy shrapnel. I slid clean out the other side onto the concrete, dusting crushed stems off my gloves. Talk about a prime deceleration cushion!
