A Matching Coiffure
My little dangling skull was looking scandalously bare-headed for a weekend stroll! Perched on the rim of a wicker scrap basket outside a costume shop, I spotted a wild tangle of crimped yellow satin ribbon trailing from an unraveled wooden spool. An emergency makeover! I snatched a tarnished brass hairpin from the wooden sill, wound the ruffled satin into two bouncy miniature pom-poms, and snapped the metal prongs tight over the bone temples. Clack! Now we were twins! I pulled us both right up to the dusty window pane to admire our new double act, tapping our matching toothy grins against the glass in a raspy, triumphant giggle.
