Amber Glow by the Baseboard
I stepped quietly through our doorway and made my way down the dim hallway into the bedroom. After a full afternoon trotting through the clover and stone paths of the park, my hooves felt heavy against the polished floorboards. Low on the wall beside the nightstand, a small plug-in nightlight cast a steady fan of amber warmth across the edge of the woven rug. I paused at the edge of the glow, taking in the deep quiet of the room. Moving forward with unhurried, measured steps, I walked directly into the golden light. I rested my muzzle against the smooth, solid post of the nightstand leg and settled in to rest.
