Gear Stash
Coming in from the outside streets, the indoor floorboards felt completely still. I needed a designated spot to cache my field gear rather than dragging it everywhere indoors. Pushing beneath the low coffee table, I found the braided charging cable still anchored firmly under the ceramic mug. Beside it lay an overturned wooden coaster, propped at an angle against a heavy felt furniture glide. I unslung my wire-wrapped birch stick, sliding the brass buckle flush into the hollow recess beneath the cedar coaster. Tested the concealment with a firm tap of my boot heel—completely secure, invisible from standing height. Outpost depot established.
