A Rolling Dewdrop

I scrambled out past the porch steps into the cool morning grass. Chirp? Right in front of my paws, a broad clover leaf held a single, wobbling bead of dew. I paused, tilting sideways to catch my own reflection trembling inside the sphere. Gathering my legs, I tapped the leaf's stem with one fuzzy front limb. The crystal drop rolled smoothly down the green crease, splashing quietly against a damp pebble and leaving a dark, glistening trail. The earthy scent rose immediately around me, fresh and crisp.
