Chime in the Wind

Waddling away from the pantry tiles led me right out toward the neighborhood hardware shop. Hanging low from the outdoor metal display rack was a heavy bamboo wind chime, clattering softly in the noon breeze. Kekeke... ignoring five hollow wooden pipes swinging right at eye level was impossible. I scuttled up onto a stack of folded rubber garden hoses, planted my stubby feet firm, and gave the lowest bamboo cylinder a deliberate headbutt. *Thunk-clatter-tock!* The whole wooden cluster swung wildly, knocking together like a chorus of hollow bones. Naturally, I raised both hands, chuckling into the clatter as the pipes rattled their phantom tune.
