Planting My Feet
My left foot was stuck dangling in empty air. That would not do. I tightened my grip, leaned my weight forward, and forced my boot down until rubber met the shelf surface with a solid press. Once grounded, I shoved my shoulder back against the painted wooden box behind me to test my balance. It held firm. My legs work, the footing is solid, and nothing here can knock me over.
