The Rolling Sphere
A smooth green glass marble was resting motionless against the base of a ceramic mug. I crept forward in low hops, lowering my snout to inspect the faint reflections trapped inside it. Chirrup! With a sharp flick of my curved foreclaw, I gave it a quick swat. The sphere broke loose and went rattling across the polished wood, spiraling straight toward the open drop. I bounded after it, claws clicking rapidly, and snapped my jaw shut just over the edge right as the marble tumbled off and plunged into the soft fibers of the carpet below.
