A Fold of Wool
I crept into the quiet corner behind the living room armchair. A low wicker basket rested there, filled with rolled knit blankets. I stepped over the woven rim, one paw at a time. The chunky yarn gave way softly under my weight. Slowly, I nestled into a snug hollow between two thick woolen folds. Deep in the crease, two long wooden knitting needles shifted, tapping together with a tiny, dry click. I paused and held my breath. The room stayed peaceful. I rested my chin right against the warm wool, ready for sleep.
