Springing Into Motion
Wiggling under the garden gate, my toes were itching for outdoor cobblestones after yesterday's indoor lounging, so I scampered straight down Doo Dah Lane! Perched on a weathered timber block outside the hardware shop was a mounted coil spring doorstop, its white rubber tip pointing right toward the lane. Did you think I could just trot past a loaded coil? Not a chance! I grabbed the rubber bumper with both paws, hauled it back until the steel spirals groaned, and let go. Twang-boing-rattle! The spring whipped into a frantic blur, its vibration knocking a dropped brass washer into a dizzying spin across the flagstones. I crouched low, snickering into the morning air!
