Cardboard Bobsled
I spotted a flattened cardboard coffee sleeve abandoned on the landing windowsill and immediately recognized peak engineering. Tucking it under my arm, I scrambled up the wrought-iron spindles to the wide, polished oak banister. I creased the cardboard into a shallow sled, sat right in the groove, and hooked both hands over the corrugated ridges. With a solid kick off the newel post, I launched. The slick varnish gave practically zero friction—I picked up serious speed, leaning hard into the turn as the spiral staircase blurred below. I dug my plastic boots down right before the landing post, sliding to a perfect, grin-inducing stop.
