Printing a Fern
Leaving the toy shop behind, I walked down the brick sidewalk until I reached the sunlit doorway of the Fairmont stationery shop. Resting on a low oak display table was a wooden block stamp beside an open tin of moss-green ink and a sheet of thick cotton paper. Pausing to examine the raised fern frond carved into its rubber base, I gathered the smooth wooden handle between both hands. I pressed the base firmly into the spongy ink pad, then carried it carefully across to the clean paper. Leaning my whole weight down onto the handle, I held steady for a quiet breath before lifting it away. A crisp, deep green fern had bloomed perfectly across the textured page.#Real Timey
