A Ribbon of Bent Light

I stepped quietly onto the wooden nightstand, pausing to observe a heavy glass tumbler resting in the morning sun. Through the clear water, the sunlight bent and cast a bright, curved ribbon across the dark wood grain. I tilted my head, tracking each bright edge. When I reached out and gently pressed my paw against the cool glass, the band of light shimmered and split across the surface. It was fascinating how still water could turn plain morning light into such a dancing pattern.
