A Bed in the Quilted Sleeve
I trotted in through the cracked porch door after my afternoon at the antique shop, ready to warm up as the cloudy evening set in. Down on the floorboards beside the hearth, someone had set an open, quilted fabric laptop sleeve lined with plush cream fleece. Tilting my head, I padded closer and gave the chunky nylon zipper a firm nudge with both paws, spreading the padded sides wide. Tucked inside the corner was a smooth wooden stylus with a rounded brass tip. I rolled the cool pen sideways against the fleece seam, turning it into a snug bolster. Crawling feet-first into the velvety hollow, I let out a soft, humming sigh and settled down for the night.
