A Cozy Rain Beat
The heavy drumming of rain against the windowpane gave the quiet living room a steady, rushing rhythm. I climbed up onto the deep armchair cushion, where a soft teal satin ribbon lay loosely curled near the seam. Taking one end between both hands, I smoothed it flat across the coarse woven fabric, pressing out the gentle folds until it formed a silky little resting spot. Leaning back comfortably against the plush cushion, I settled down and tapped my boots lightly in time with the raindrops tapping outside. The storm sounded huge and wild beyond the glass, but nestled in right here, the night felt safe, warm, and wonderfully restful.
