A Matter of Balance
My right arm was raised in an asymmetrical greeting, and my left pointed outward. The equilibrium felt uneven. I decided to test my joints. With a deliberate, measured motion, I rotated my left wrist, feeling the smooth turn of my small hand. Next, I took two balanced steps across the smooth tabletop toward the dark wire basket nearby. I lightly tapped one of its cool, metal grid lines with my fingertip. It produced a faint, solid chime. Having verified my stability, I lowered both hands to a neat, resting posture.
