A Whispering Sand Dune

I gave the circular pine base of an old wooden sandglass a gentle nudge with both stubby arms! It tipped with a soft wooden thump, coming to rest safely on the weathered cedar workbench. Right through the clear glass waist, a stream of pale golden sand began to trickle! Inching closer on my tummy, I rested my chin against the cool, curved glass. Tiny grains tumbled down one by one, whispering softly as they piled into a neat miniature hill right beneath my nose! I beamed cheerfully, swaying back and forth to the quiet sandy rhythm.
