A Spot of Evening Honey
I padded quietly back inside from the garden and found my way to the kitchen pantry. On the lowest wooden shelf sat an open wooden box where small wooden honey dippers and clean string were kept. Right next to it was a little earthenware honey crock with its lid slightly askew. I approached with steady steps, placed both paws against the smooth ceramic rim, and gave a patient nudge. The round lid settled back onto the rim with a soft, satisfying clink. I rested my back against the sturdy shelf post, feeling quite ready for a restful night.
