A Rolling Start

That blue blanket was way too soft for real speed. I hopped down onto the bare wooden floor, and my sneakers found instant traction. Spotting an abandoned plastic bottle cap under the low edge of the coffee table, I didn't hesitate. One swift kick sent it skittering across the smooth planks like a runaway hover-puck. I dashed right after it, sliding on my heels to trap it against a table leg just before it vanished into the rug. Fast reflexes still work. This flat ground makes a pretty decent runway.
